Your development partner with leading materials expertise

The moulded rubber components and seals made by Daetwyler Rubber have to withstand many stresses and strains: extreme temperature fluctuations, contact with all sorts of fluids, and a wide variety of mechanical and dynamic loads. This requires an integrated approach to reconcile seemingly contradictory objectives. And that’s where our strengths come into play: years of experience, creativity – and passion!

Innovative solutions

Building on this strong foundation, we develop and produce innovative solutions that would have been inconceivable only a short time ago. Some current examples are fibre-reinforced rubber materials for ABS control diaphragms in truck brake systems, magnetic rubber materials for multipole encoders in car sensors, seals with a co-extruded lubricating film to improve frictional properties, and water-swellable materials to solve specific sealing problems in civil engineering.

Application-specific materials

Our in-house rubber compound design and manufacturing capabilities have earned us recognition as a development partner able to deliver innovative solutions and the most consistent quality. We are known for our years of experience in developing materials tailored to specific applications based on virtually all types of rubber available:

List

  • NR, SBR, EPDM, CR, NBR, HNBR, VMQ
  • FKM (fluorocarbon elastomers) and FVMQ (fluorosilicones) having low-temperature flexibility and resistance to fuels
  • Fibre-reinforced materials
  • Self-lubricating materials
  • Materials with magnetic properties
  • Water-swellable materials

We are also proficient in special processes, such as plasma treatment for selectively functionalising elastomer surfaces.

State-of-the-art development tools

Our specialists combine leading materials expertise with state-of-the-art development tools –  working for the benefit of our customers:

Liste

  • Compounding lab equipped with a laboratory-scale internal mixer replicating production conditions for manufacturing development compounds
  • Physical and chemical testing technology for traditional characterisation of elastomeric materials in temperature ranges relevant to the function
  • Analysis
    • Light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy with EDX analysis (inorganic element analysis)
    • FTIR for organic compound analysis
    • TGA/DSC for materials testing
    • Gas and liquid permeation properties of elastomeric materials
    • Mould flow and FE simulations
